“The P.J. Walsh Library is at the heart of teaching and learning at Oakhill College. It provides a place of enrichment for the whole College community through challenging, encouraging and motivating students to achieve their full potential.”

Staff members endeavour to equip the students with advanced information skills and classes regularly come to the library to develop these skills. The library is a busy hub of College life and even when the lights are turned off the library is still working – providing online material to the College community through remote access. Oakhill is a reading community and the library provides a wonderfully varied collection of fiction and literature that stimulates students to read widely. Oakhill College students take part in the Read to Succeed Challenge, Book Week, Coding Club, Readers Group, Virtual Reality Explorers, Writing Competitions and have opportunities to hear from successful visiting authors.

Read to Succeed Program

The Read to Succeed program is is an annual whole school approach to reading. Students can read e-books, e-audiobooks, listen to podcasts, read a blog or even an interesting website as well as, of course, books. Any and all reading for pleasure counts as part of the program.

We offer students incentives for reading. Virtual badges can be earned to gain real life donuts, and students who complete the Principal’s Award, will attend the Principal’s Morning Tea.

We hope you enjoy our Read to Succeed video.
