Part Time Position (maximum term)

Oakhill College is an Independent Catholic Secondary School conducted in the Lasallian tradition, with an enrolment of 1700 students, boys Years 7 to 10, co-educational in Years 11 and 12. Oakhill College is located in Castle Hill, NSW, and offers a wide range of subject choices and extra-curricular activities.

We seek to appoint a flexible and experienced Uniform Shop Manager. The role is required to be predominantly performed during school term time only, two full days per week. In addition, the Uniform Shop Manager will be required to work approximately 10 Saturday mornings per year and be available to work on key scheduled evenings and additional days as required.

Working hours for 2019 are as follows:

Tuesdays and Wednesdays 7.30am – 3.30pm (approximately)

First Saturday of the month (term time only) and occasional evenings or extra days as required

Proposed working hours for 2020 are as follows:

Mondays 7.30am – 3.30pm (approximately)

Thursdays 9.30am – 5.30pm (approximately)

First Saturday of the month (term time only) and occasional evenings or extra days as required

The appointment is for an initial period of up to 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement. Hours and days may change each year dependent on College operational requirements. The successful applicant will have experience working in a busy clothing retail environment, ideally within a school setting, with a proven ability to manage day to day operations of the uniform shop.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Sound clothing retail management experience (school uniform shop experience is preferred);
  • Experience with stock control, procurement, sales, quality control, reconciliations, stocktakes, forecasting and cash handling etc;
  • Ability to use technology, point of sale equipment, internet, Microsoft Office (intermediate level) and finance/ordering systems;
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with a range of customers and suppliers;
  • Strong negotiation skills;
  • Sound administration experience, attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
  • Ability to co-ordinate uniform shop volunteers.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be available to work additional hours when required (e.g. end of January and in Term 4);
  • Have prior clothing retail experience;
  • Possess strong organisational skills, a high level of initiative and ability to work independently;
  • Demonstrate an ability to juggle multiple activities and prioritise work to meet deadlines;
  • Take a “hands on” and flexible approach to work;
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Work effectively within a team;
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School;
  • Be supportive of the Lasallian ethos of the College.
