Well known for its all-round excellence, Oakhill College has once again excelled academically, achieving excellent HSC results. It was the girls turn to shine this year.

Vanessa Messina attained the top ATAR with 99.1 and will be awarded DUX for 2018.

Juniper Riordan (98.8), Hannah Skudous (97.6), and Melinda Cook (97.45) all received “All Rounder Awards” for attaining a Band 6 in all subjects.

“I feel relieved and very excited for the future. I have achieved the result that I was after and I am looking forward to making a real difference in the world,” said Juniper Riordan. “I would like to study Environmental Science and International Studies and Politics at Sydney University next year.”

Hannah Skuodos is hoping to study Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology. “The best decision I ever made was to come to Oakhill. The College motivated me to try harder than ever and there were so many opportunities.”

Melinda Cook attributes much of her success to Oakhill College and the support she received. “The Oakhill community and spirit is incredible. I feel so privileged to have been able to attend this school and be provided with so many opportunities.” Melinda hopes to study a degree in Arts/Law.

Izabella Zeaiter has just finished Year 11 this year, but she completed the HSC accelerated course of Studies of Religion 2 Unit achieving a sensational result of fourth in the State. “I can’t believe that I have come fourth,” she said. “It was great to get a head start on a subject before everyone else. I was so happy to be given the opportunity to tackle this course early as I have learnt so many skills that I can take with me into Year 12.”

Principal of Oakhill, Brother Steve Hogan said the College community is proud of the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2018.

“The HSC results are a product of diligence and dedication. They can be attributed to hard work, dedication and motivation.”

“Our graduates are not only academically successful, but also are community and service driven. This year the graduating class demonstrates a breadth and depth of talent with outstanding results in multiple subjects.”

“Oakhill College is a better community today because of the Class of 2018. This year group has contributed to College life in all areas – academics, sport, performing and creative arts, social justice and leadership. We wish these young men and women every success in the future and once again congratulate them for the wonderful contribution they have made to our community.

Oakhill College also achieved the following results:

  • Top ATAR 99.1
  • 9 students achieved an ATAR above 97; 23 students achieved an ATAR above 95; and 56 students achieved an ATAR above 90.
  • 3 students on the All-Rounders List (Band 6 in all subjects)
  • 116 students on the Distinguished Achievers List (Band 6 in at least one subject)
  • Fourth in State in Studies of Religion 2 Unit
  • 52% of all grades were Band 5 or Band 6; and 20% of all ATARs were above 90
  • 221 Band 6 results
