On Friday, 7 September, Oakhill College in partnership with Macquarie University, held its first Law Breakfast in the Centenary Sports Centre foyer. Over 65 students from Years 10, 11 and 12, that are interested in pursuing a career in law, attended this inspirational morning, along with a number of alumni lawyers.

Students had the opportunity to listen to four very experienced and engaging guest speakers that shared their stories and knowledge and provided words of wisdom to the audience.

Principal, Br Steve Hogan said Oakhill was privileged to have such a diverse group of speakers at the event: ” We had a University Lecturer/Barrister, a Parliamentarian, a Police Officer and a practicing solicitor!”

The Guest Speakers were:
– George Tomossy, Senior Lecturer at the Macquarie Law School, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Bar of Ontario
– the Honorable David Elliott MP
– Rob Critchlow, LAC Castle Hill Police                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        – Erin Hoil, partner at Kingston Fox Lawyers and an alumna of Oakhill College.

The experience of hearing from the guest speakers provided students with an example of connecting the “real world” to the syllabus, as well as being inspired to aspire to greatness.
