On Friday 10th March, the following students took place in the Zone Final of the CSDA Public Speaking Competition; Marco Fogolin (Year 8), Alexander Austin (Year 9) and Lachlan Elliott (Year 10). Marco’s speech provided tips on how to be ‘Strong and Constant’ in many aspects of life including mentally, physically and socially, whereas Alexander linked ‘Strong and Constant’ to the formation of bad habits. He used his ‘addiction’ to video games as a basis of how to break bad habits. Lachlan defended the Kardashians as a phenomenon constructed by society which reflects our apathy. The level of competition was very high and it was a significant achievement to be selected for the Zone Final. Alexander Austin was selected to progress to the Grand Final which took place on Friday 17th March. Alexander was one of twelve Year 9 students from across Sydney chosen to be in the Grand Final. This is an outstanding achievement. Unfortunately he did not place. I would like to congratulate all students who competed in Public Speaking this year. Also, thank you to Ms Sarah Bambagiotti and Ms Kristen D’Alessandro for their assistance.
