Celebrating Book Week 2019
August 9, 2019 Oakhill News

From the 12–16 August, students, parents and staff at Oakhill College will immerse themselves in annual Book Week celebrations to recognise and enhance their love of books.

This year’s theme ‘Banquet of Books’ will see book lovers of all kinds participate in a range of activities designed to celebrate books, authors and illustrators.

The schedule of activities over the week will include:

Tuesday, 13 August

Write a book in a day: the nominated team of students will work together in this inter-school’s competition and have just 12 hours to write and illustrate a book.

Parents morning tea: the library will play host to a scrumptious morning tea from 10.45am-11.30am so come along and connect with each other about reading. Br. Steve will be joining us and sharing his love of reading and the importance of reading to lifelong learning.

Wednesday, 14 August

Author visit: Year 7 & 8 students will experience a visit from renowned Australia author Christopher Richardson to hear all about his journey as an author. Hot topics will include the craft of writing, what it takes to become an author, where he generates his ideas from and all about his published works.

Friday, 16 August

Banquet of Books Quiz: during tutor groups students will have the opportunity for some book-related fun with book discussions, a quiz and some snacks to enjoy.

Being a book creator: throughout the week, Year 7 & 8 students will also have the chance to showcase their creative flair during library class and create their own book.

We look forward to a fantastic week of book celebrations.
