Immersion Experiences

Students preparing to plant trees in a Vietnamese Community supported by the De La Salle Brothers.

Oakhill College has a tradition of running immersion trips in the September / October holidays to support the work of the  De La Salle Brothers. This is an important part of Mission at Oakhill where we work to raise awareness and help marginalised children overseas.

We invite interested Year 11 students to be part of this volunteer project, where we live and work in De La Salle projects in the Philippines and India.

Students and staff work throughout the year to raise money and awareness for brothers and sisters overseas. We use these funds in building works, planting trees and painting cottages. We take the opportunity to assist with the student’s education by teaching English and sharing cultural experiences.

Apart from the obvious help and care, we will be giving to our impoverished brothers and sisters in the Philippines and India, it gives our Oakhill students the opportunity to practice ‘Faith, Service and Community’ in the Lasallian tradition.
