Congratulations to Jesse Krauksts-Garofano (Year 11) who has been selected as a Hills 2018 Anzac Day Ambassador by Castle Hill RSL sub-branch.
Jesse, along with three other students from the Hills, will be an integral part of services on 22 April and 25 April at the Centenary Anzac Reserve, Kellyville.
All secondary schools in the Hills were invited to nominate a Year 11 student for selection as an ambassador. The nominated students were interviewed by a panel including Hills Mayor Michelle Byrne.
On Anzac Day in 1918 the second battle of Villers-Brettoneauz occurred and is considered the turning point of World War I.
A century later, the Hills Anzac ambassadors will speak about the campaign at the Centenary of Anzac reserve at both the Anzac Sunday service on 22 April and the Dawn Service on Wednesday, 25 April.
Principal of Oakhill College, Br Steve Hogan commented “It is important for our students to understand, commemorate and reflect on the great sacrifices that were made by Australian soldiers that helped to shape our nation, and the ANZAC spirit of mateship, friendship, generosity and respect that we became known for.”
