After five months of rehearsals and a sold-out preview and performance season, Oakhill College’s production of Baz Luhrmann’s “Strictly Ballroom” had its final curtain on Saturday, 23 June 2018.
With over 150 students involved from Years 7-12, this was an epic production where teamwork was paramount. From set to lights, to costumes, to the band, to the off-stage crew and on-stage performance, every element meshed together to tell this very Australian, very heart-warming story.
Directors Ms Zoe Tidemann and Mr Anthony Timmins were thrilled with the response from the community.
‘Oakhill has a strong tradition of excellence in Performing Arts. This avenue allows our students to be involved in a creative collaboration over several months alongside their peers and teachers.” said Ms Tidemann.
“Students learn the value of hard work and dedication, the ability to communicate with passion and confidence, they make strong social connections and grow in their ability to believe in themselves.” said Mr Timmins.
Congratulations to the cast, crew and staff who brought this production to the stage and thank you to everyone who came together to share this Australian tale… love is very much in the air!
