Students from Oakhill College have teamed up with the McGrath Foundation for the third consecutive year to host ‘Pink Stumps Day’, on Saturday, 10 February 2018.
Pink Stumps Day, is a fundraising initiative that was set up by the McGrath Foundation nine years ago. Money raised on the day will be used to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.
Last year, 17,586 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia; that’s 48 people diagnosed every day.
Attempting to exceed last years’ fundraising amount, Oakhill College will be aiming to reach the 2018 target of $2000. Every Oakhill sporting team will be participating in the cause by wearing pink.
Principal of Oakhill College, Brother Steve Hogan said the College community is proud of the motivation of students involved in this initiative.
‘Our students display sportsmanship, dedication and teamwork whilst organising various activities to fundraise for the McGrath Foundation. If we can help to improve the lives of people diagnosed with breast cancer, we have achieved our goal’.
Highlights of the Pink Stumps Day at Oakhill College will be the First XI match against St Pius X College beginning at 10.00am, the First V Basketball game against St Pius X College at 1.00pm and the Girls Basketball game against Chevalier College at 10.00am. Fixtures begin at 8.00am and will run up until 5:30pm. All are welcome to attend.
